Original cast iron ‘sitting-weight’ for the Draeger Diving Apparatus. An interesting solution to put weights on a diver: where other manufacturers have most of the weight at the level of the divers chest, making him ‘top-heavy’, Draeger spread the weight by putting this weight as a seat between the divers legs where it was hanging on the jock-strap. This rounded shaped model appears at illustrations in the catalogues and manuals before the second world war. In the 1946 catalogue a different, more triangular shaped Model was illustrated: the one shown here above ( Sitzgewicht 1 ) It may be that the design was changed during the second world war. But the last batches of sitting weights which were made by Draeger to go with the last copper helmets and the DM200 / DM220 all look like this early version with the round shapes.
